Club News SEPTEMBER 2018

It's September 2018 already. I NEED A SIGNUP FOR MY COURSES AT DAFEN WELFARE HALL, LLANELLI ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT 6 TILL 7 OR THURSDAY NIGHT, 7.30-8.30. We are a bit low on numbers AT THE BLACKPILL VENUE, SWANSEA but our regular members are doing well and heading towards the first degree black belt with all their commitment and loyalty the past few years. Bulbul and Aryan are now blue belts, Mathew has now reached black tag and will sit his lst Degree in the New year.  A very loyal member who helps keep his club going every week and is very helpful towards the other students. I think he is well and truly hooked on Tae Kwon Do now after 3.1/2 years.  Olivia, one of our new grades is also very keen and working hard towards her green tag which she will do in October. Quality lessons to attract families training together from 7 years old and an emphasis on getting women and young ladies in to improve their confidence, self esteem whilst enjoying this individual sport. Single adults are also very welcome to join. Courses on Monday and Thursday  Beginners: 5.30-6.30 on Monday, 6.30-7.30 coloured belts, Thursday 5.30-6.45 Beginners class and coloured belts. I give quality classes for a Group Price and my lessons are longer than other traditional martial arts clubs as we have small groups. There is a one month's probation period for all beginners to see if they are happy and want to do my Syllabus that I teach.  The yearly Membership includes a free  dobok/suit, is cheap and this money helps to buy equipment and help pay rent and other expenses that are incurred during the year.  As yet, I do not receive any funding but have been trying this year but it isn't forthcoming as budgets are tight.

Adults who want something interesting and active to do can join over 50 years of age also.  I am also giving courses at my Gym at Home in Gorseinon for those over 60, who want light exercise, self defence, breathing to relax and meditation.  After being responsible for a Tae Kwon Do Academy for over 25 years, I more than qualify to be a personal trainer with not just my Dan Grade Diplomas and experience of running an organisation but also my experience of what to avoid re teaching technique so that the student avoids injury. Many so called personal trainers lack this knowledge and often push their students to the limit, with the result they get injured and are unable to continue training.

Anyone can train in this martial art and eventually achieve a Black Belt. My fees are very cheap compared to other Tae Kwon Do organizations and I receive no funding. I am DBS checked and have taught tae kwon do and self defence for over 27 years in Belgium and the UK. I have written a book giving an insight into this fab martial art that I love and which helps to keep me busy as a retiree and positive. You can't defend yourself unless you have practiced a martial art like tae kwon do for several years, which involves learning all the important techniques that you need beforehand and that takes commitment, patience and time.  You will gain strength, endurance, flexibility, timing, balance, speed, reflex etc etc, required for self defence.    It's a hobby that you can share with others in the UK and overseas, with the UTI in the Netherlands (which is our affiliate) for example on their camp, normally held at the end of June and at tournaments throughout the UK where students will get experience and meet others in well organised  tae kwon do clubs.  If you stay on this training programme for a few years you don't need to worry about dieting.

About

I started Tae Kwon Do in Singapore in 1970 whilst serving with the British Royal Air Force, at a time when Tae Kwon Do was unheard of within Europe, and have trained with several Tae Kwon Do organisations in the UK.
